This week’s show starts off with Jeremy talking about a feature he is currently working on for 1UP about game music that borrows from popular music. He has put in a couple of samples into the show, it sounds like an interesting feature for gaming music fans. Retro game news is a little more eventful this week as Virtual Console as well as the other downloadable services have had a more substantial update than usual.
As a follow-up of sorts to the Zelda centered seventh episode and in honor of Spirit Tracks, the bulk of this weeks podcast focuses on handheld Zelda games. Jeremy feels like the handheld games often get overlooked when looking back on the series. Nintendo seems more willing to experiment with it’s games on handhelds, this point comes up a lot during the show.
The first Playstation is fifteen this year and as such is the focus of the third and final segment of the show. The diversity of games that the Playstation offered really impresses, Jeremy mentions it really allowed for some very niche titles. The show closes out with the guys sharing their favorite games on the system.
