After an unexpected hiatus Active Time Babble is back for it’s fourth episode. Alice Liang and Thierry “Scooter” Nguyen join Kat Bailey for the first segment this week, an interview with a couple the developers of World of Warcraft. While the discussion starts a little more retrospective it soon moves onto the upcoming Cataclysm expansion and the challenges that come from such a huge revamp. The success and longevity of WoW does seem to have taken everyone by surprise but Blizzard has certainly done a good job of expanding the game as the number of players has grown.
Jeremy planned to play some Dragon Age, like the rest of the crew, but he got sidetracked by 3D Dot Game Heroes. It seems to be an unofficial sequel to the original NES Legend of Zelda with a coating of general NES nostalgia for good measure. Jeremy found himself sucked in by it and lost a couple of days as a result.
A fairly lengthy and in depth discussion of Dragon Age takes up the rest of the show. Judging from how they talk about it the guys are really invested in the game. Kat feels the mages in the game make it a little too easy and as a result refuses to use them, doing so will definitely make the game a greater challenge.
Covered games and topics: World of Warcraft, Star Trek: Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Dragon Age: Origins
Our long-delayed fourth chapter arrives at last, with a flashback sequence in which we interrogate members of the World of Warcraft dev team before discussing Dragon Age in alarming detail.
