4 Guys 1UP

4 Guys 1UP is back to its regular format this week with special guest Gary Whitta. If you have been following the PC gaming scene for  while, you may remember Gary as the Editor-in-Chief of PC Gamer. He has gone onto screenwriting, and his latest is the Denzel Washington thriller, Book of Eli. Gary has also had a hand in the stories of Duke Nuken Forever and Gears of War. He is an amazing guest, and David deserves a lot of credit for thinking of him.

A new Medal of Honor game is in the works, and it is going to be a “modern combat” game set in Afganistan– sound familiar? The multiplayer is being developed by DICE, the guys behind Battlefield, so there is some potential here. Ubisoft has announced that they will be supporting both Sony and Microsoft’s motion controllers, with the bulk of support going to Natal.

EA CEO, John Riccitiello, made some statements that will bring some relief to those hoping for a sequel to Mirror’s Edge. Jeremy has been playing some Zelda: Spirit Tracks and shares some of his thoughts. New Super Mario Bros.Wii gets some love from Gary, and Star Wars: The Old Republic discussion closes-out the show.

Covered games and topics: Screenwriting, perfect scores, BBC iplayer indefinitely shelved, new Medal of Honor, Ubisoft’s Natal and PS3 motion controller games, Mirror’s Edge 2, Zelda: Spirit Tracks, NSMBW, Star Wars: The Old Republic,

We go a little Hollywood this week as PC Gamer founder turned motion picture writer Gary Whitta joins us to talk about his career transition. Along the way we learn a little bit about the history of Gears of War, Duke Nukem Forever, and the original World of Warcraft movie script. We round out the show with info on Link’s latest portable adventure, Gravity Crash on the PSN, and two special guests join in for some stories from a galaxy far, far away.
