The Rebel FM Juneteenth Special!

by Ross Adams in GamesNovember 27th, 2009 @ 9:25 am

Rebel FMIt’s a “Juneteenth” holiday special this week, which essentially means a slightly shorter podcast than usual. Tyler starts off what you’ve been playing with what he hasn’t been playing, as his Xbox 360′s disc drive has scratched his Assassins Creed 2 disc to the point that it’s unreadable. He has been playing a lot of games that are part of the IGF. Tyler has moved on from Captain Forever, to the follow-up Captain Successor. He is enjoying it, but he feels Captain Forever (which is now free) is probably the better game.

Arthur has been playing the first batch of Borderlands DLC that came out this week, and despite some technical issues he seems to think it’s a good value download. Despite his reservations which stopped him buying it Arthur has started playing Shadow Complex, to be more well informed for Game of the Year discussions. Anthony continues to play through Fallout 3, mostly the DLC, he agrees with  Arthur and Tyler’s statements earlier that it wouldn’t work as a straight shooter.

This weeks question is “what are you thankful for?” answers range from the good things that have come from the 1UP layoffs, to the PS3 price drop/release of the PS3 Slim. Tyler is thankful for being able to experience PC gaming this year, Anthony is thankful he managed to get a job, and Arthur is thankful for Tyler and Anthony. The show closes with the usual gaming and relationship related emails.

Covered games and topics:
Xbox 360 disc scratching, IGF games, Captain Forever, Captain Successor, Borderlands: The Zombie Island of Dr Ned, Tropico 3, Shadow Complex, Fallout 3, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Modern Warfare 2 PC, Company of Heroes, what are you thankful for, emails

Hello and welcome to our special episode, in which we celebrate America’s finest tradition, Juneteenth! We celebrate by, uh, well. By doing the same thing we always do, except faster! We talk about games we’ve been playing, including a number of IGF competitors, Silent Hill Wii, the new Borderlands DLC and more. Then we talk about what you’re all thankful for and close out with RELATIONSHIP LETTERS ALL THE TIME. Not really, but there really are some relationship letters.
