This week’s /Filmcast kicks off with Dave’s viewing of the recently released Fight Club Blu-Ray, which turns out to be a podcast favorite. They talk about some of the deeper ideas behind the film and how the cult following almost counteracts some of the core message. Jen Yamato joins the show and shines some light on the recent Planet 51 and Twilight: New Moon, as well.
In the news segment, Dave talks about the new screenwriters to work on the movie adaptation of Uncharted, a team who previously worked on Sahara, A Sound of Thunder, and a soon to be remade Conan.
The guys review Precious this week, with Devindra taking the most positive stance on the film saying that almost anyone can relate with the intense drama of the film on some level. Adam definitely recommends the film, but has some misgivings about some of the top level, semi-political implications. Dave appreciated the performances and the cinematography, but was otherwise unimpressed with Precious.
This week, Dave Chen, Devindra Hardawar and Adam Quigley celebrate Fight Club’s 10th anniversary by diving into the film’s newly released Blu-Ray, praise Park Chan-Wook’s Thirst, express ambivalence about the upcoming Uncharted film, and dissect the Twilight phenomenon as best they can. Special guest Jen Yamato joins us these evening.
