David was not able to procure a guest from the dev side this week, so Christian Nutt is sitting in to discuss the week’s news. The recent layoffs at EA start this one off with some analytical discussion about why this came about, and the state of developer’s comfortability with the current generation of hardware.
Rumors have been swirling about forthcoming successors to the DS and PSP. Purportedly, Nvidia has been tapped as the supplier of the graphics chips with their Tegra chipset. Christian pontificates that an Apple-like approach of iterative hardware may be a trend going forward.
The whatcha been playing section is the only other segment this week and Alice starts things off with Lego Indiana Jones 2 and the new Harvest Moon. Chrsitian talks about Dragon Age and the group discusses Star Wars: The Old Republic. The show finishes with some appreciation of the smaller points of Assassin’s Creed 2.
Covered games and topics: Pandemic closes, current gen issues, new handhelds, DSi, Zelda Wii, premium PSN, games as a medium, Lego Indiana Jones 2, Harvest Moon, Dragon Age, The Old Republic, Assassin’s Creed 2
It’s a jam-packed episode as we welcome Alice Liang and Gamasutra’s Christian Nutt to talk about the layoffs at Pandemic, the PS3 going 3-D, and the next iterations of the DS and PSP. David joins in to sing the praises of Assassin’s Creed II. The rest of the crew rounds things out with talk of Lego Indy 2, Dragon Age, and a tease for Zelda: Spirit Tracks.
