Dragon Age: Origins is up first this week and Demian Linn and Jason Wilson of Bitmob and joining the love-fest. The characterization, and story to a lesser extent, are the big draws here. It does sound like the PC version is definitely the way to go with the interface hampering enjoyment somewhat in the console versions.
1UP’s Richard Li joins Cesar and Jason Bertrand to discuss DJ Hero. The game gets a surprising amount of time when the final determination comes down to the title’s steep learning curve and generally inaccessibility.
Modern Warfare 2 is the big piece this week, and spoilers abound, including the ending of Half Life 2 Episode 2. They also show the controversial set-piece from the game, so be aware. While the immersive quality of many moments are very successful with the group, Ryan in particular, feels like the story is ultimately quite heavy-handed in execution. Everyone agrees that the feel of the gameplay continues to be the forte of the series, and is the pinnacle of first person shooting.
Midnight launches are not for the feint of heart. You know, the whole staying up late, playing a game all night, trying to go to work the the next day. But that’s part of what being a gamer is all about! We were there for a San Francisco midnight launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 so that we could cover the single-player, at least, on this week’s show. It’s the first of a MW2 two-parter. We believe it takes longer than a few days to evaluate multiplayer so we’re going to give it a good shakedown before talking about that part of the game. The epically awesome Dragon Age Origins and the next, big rhythm game DJ Hero round out this week’s coverage.
