Seth Killian, of Capcom Unity, is on this week as the special guest and most of the discussion centers around Street Fighter. His story of landing at Capcom shows that being good at games can get your foot in the door, although his hand in creating one of the biggest fighting game tournaments of all-time probably had a lot to do with it as well.
NPDs start the news this week and there are a few surprises. The PS3 bested the Xbox 360 again in October on the hardware side. This marks a continuing downward trend for Microsoft’s box. Xbox 360 Slim anyone? Uncharted 2 was the big winner on the software side, with Borderlands coming out strong as well. The rumors swirling around a potential $80 launch for Natal next November also spurs some conversation.
Modern Warfare 2 gets a chunk of time this week. If you haven’t played it, and care about story spoilers, it would be a good idea to skip the 1:18:30 – 1:31:30 minute marks. David poses some questions to Seth about piracy in relation to Capcom products before things finish with Jeremy dishing-out some praise for New Super Mario Bros.Wii which he gave an A+.
Covered games and topics: Capcom Unity blog, fighting games, NPDs, natal launch, Modern Warfare 2, piracy, NSMBW, emails
With two major releases it’s another one of those weeks where there¹s almost too much to talk about. Seth Killian from Capcom Unity joins us to talk about his transition from college professor to God of all things Street Fighter. Sam and David talk about the success and failures of Modern Warefare 2 (Spoilers from 1:17-1:29), and Jeremy puts Nintendo¹s game design for everyone thesis to the test with New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Also news about the release of Microsoft’s Natal, a new Hero game from Activision, and prepare your slingshot once again as Rockstar’s Bully might be returning.
