Episode 2 of 4 Guys 1UP is immediately high energy with newly appointed Editor-in-Chief of www.ea.com, Jeff Green, as the special guest this week. Things start off with Jeff hitting on a plethora of topics, all centered around his transition from press to development to PR/corporate online content master. A lot of this is treaded ground, but Jeff is entertaining as always. The solid game talk doesn’t start until the 1:20:00 minute mark though.
Moving into games, Jeff talks about recent tent-pole PC releases Torchlight, Borderlands and Dragon Age. He may have just had a hand in a Wii release, but he is still a PC guy at heart. November is National Write a Novel Month, and Jeff and Scooter are both attempting to write their own. Big CGW/GFW fans will recognize the title to Jeff’s novel, Cudgel of Xanthor.
David, Jeremy and Scooter get into the real game talk in the 3rd segment. Jeremy had a chance to play some of Assassin’s Creed 2 and he is optimistic about it here. Scooter talks about his time with Mass Effect 2, and then the guys discuss the news of the week.
Covered games and topics: Torchlight, Borderlands, Dragon Age, Cudgel of Xanthor, NSMBW, Assassin’s Creed 2, Mass Effect 2, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Avatar, news, Modern Warfare 2, Ngage
The Black Dragon Returns. No, we’re not talking about the new RPG from Bioware; former 1UP editor Jeff Green is in-studio to talk about his life as a developer and his new gig as editor-in-chief of EA.com. Scooter and Jeremy also join in to talk about Assassin’s Creed II, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mass Effect 2, and much more.

Great episode. Been a very good week for podcasts with a solid Giant Bombcast and an equally good 4 Guys 1UP. Next week: Shane Bettenhausen (I hope).
Although I am a big of a fan of Jeff Green (and Shane Bettenhausen), I don’t want to see David just fall back on the old 1UP community for guests. The formula needs to be established with special guests from the development community who are not just old faces. This should be a rare/special occurrence.
That said, it was a fun episode.
Oh, I completely agree. I’m just concerned at the podcast’s ability to sustain a constant flow of new guests. I’m not sure how many industry folk there are out there who’d want to appear on a podcast. Are there enough so that it would be possible to avoid re-appearances from guests in too short a timespan? I could just be wrong, maybe there are many guests who’d want to go on the show – like you, I certainly hope so.
I’m going to have to disagree with you, Jonathan, just because I think that building expectations by promising new, exciting, super-popular people is just a recipe for failure. At this point, the 1UP Alums are a pretty diverse, interesting group of people and the 1UP network was always well known for the more personal relationships the editors had with the community. Since the 1UP staff has been whittled down pretty handily, bringing some of these time-tested, awesome people is sure to be healthy for keeping the podcast fresh while still making the episodes featuring special development/industry people feel unique.
Can someone tell me where I can find Jeff Greens new podcast? I was on the EA site but could not find it.
I have to assume that there will be an official, easy-to-find place for it soon, but for now you can find it here: http://www.ea.com/blogs/ea-underground/tag/the-ea-podcast
Oh thx man, I never would have found that.
