Episode 9 is here, but it almost wasn’t. Our secret podcasting machine decided to crash just as we hit the stop button after recording the first time around, but Monday is CastMedium Podcast day, so we sucked it up and did it all over again. I present to you, episode 009 – take 2.

A lot happened in the podcast world last week so we are talking about it. 1UP’s new premier podcast, 4 Guys 1UP, had its first episode and it was a strong start. All 3 of us gush over The Engadget Show with Steve Ballmer, and express our dismay over the impending end of Idle Thumbs.

In games, Borderlands has won-over Jon and I after all of the positive opinions since last week, but Erik isn’t budging. DJ Hero still has us somewhat puzzled, but hey, those IGN guys sure do love it!

On the tech front, we spend a good chunk of time talking about Windows 7 and then move into the recent Apple updates. At this point, I somehow manage to inexplicably steer the conversation into the realm of LCD manufacturing. Jon and my movie-going experiences of the week finish-out the cast.

Covered topics and games: 4 Guys 1UP, The Engadget Show 002, GWJ John Davison interview, Idle Thumbs ending at 50, Borderlands, DJ Hero, Windows 7, Mac product updates, Where the Wild Things Are, Paranormal Activity

Runtime – 35:40

Haha, so you weren’t able to cut LCD conversation? Honestly, we should have been drinking, at least then we’d have an excuse for such a weird tangent.

Still, it seems like losing a recording is a rite of passage for a podcast series So, in a way, this just makes us more legit.

    Right?

  2. AlfredPMcLovely says:

I totally agree that all screens, tv, pcs and laptops, should be in 16:9. Its a pet peeve of mine to see 4:3 or any other weird aspect ratios.

You guys sold me on the engaget show, will have to check that out. Anybody happen to know how they came up with the name engadget? I can never spell that name right on the first try. Endgaget, endgadget, engadget, ugh.

  3. AlfredPMcLovely says:

Also, anyone know why when I post it doesn’t use my avatar that I set up for gravatar?

    • Jon Cole says:

I remember it being a little finicky when I first set up my avatar, you might want to check that you have your image set as the primary one and then try clearing your cache. And then the most obvious thing that is still somewhat easy to forget is that you need to use the same email address that you used on Gravatar for the WordPress blog that you’re trying to post comments on.

      Hope that helps!

  4. AlfredPMcLovely says:

It was the email addy. Thanks for the help. Testing.

  5. ellen says:

i wasn’t crying … it was just raining on my face. :(

i still don’t know quite how i feel about where the wild things are. that movie beat me up without any warning! unless my being emotionally moved by the trailers was meant to clue me in. i need to listen to some podcasts that cover it … i know you said some on the show but could you please repeat?

    i enjoy listening! <3

  6. ellen says:
