It has begun, and it’s all downhill from here. 4 Guys 1UP is the name of 1UP’s new flagship podcast and it will have a special guest every week. This week’s special guest is Tim Schafer and there is no better person to start off with.
The 1st segment is dedicated to news and the guys are discussing the NPDs. The PS3 is off to amazing start to the holidays and Microsoft must be paying close attention. The Modern Warfare 2 private server issue also gets some discussion and it seems like it is actually a good thing for most players.
Tim takes over the 2nd segment, so things are focused around Brutal Legend. He hits on some interesting points before moving into community questions about the game.
The classic “Whatcha Been Playin’?” segment take up the 3rd spot and Borderlands starts things off. Jeremy talks about Super Mario Wii and Shin Megami Tensei PSP, and he announces that he is spearheading a new 1UP RPG podcast that will have its 1st episode next week. David went to Italy last week for an Assassin’s Creed 2 event and shares some of his impressions here.
Overall, 4 Guys 1UP is a good start and it feels like it will be different enough to have its own identity. David handles the podcast well, so hopefully those that haven’t liked him in the past will give him a chance.

Nice 1st episode, but something they discussed in the last Mobcast also appears here : Nobody asks hard questions. Tim Schafer seems like a very cool guy I dont think he would have had a problem discussing some of Brutal Legend`s problems.
It is a missed opprtunity imo.
I think 1UP is going to be perpetually hesitant when it comes to asking developers tough questions on podcasts after the 1UP Yours interview with Mitch Gitelman. If you haven’t heard it, basically Garnett Lee rips into Gitelman in an embarrassing and unacceptable manner considering that he was the host. He was clearly inebriated. It’s very tough to listen to because it’s so awkward, but it’s this episode:

No, I don’t sorry. You wanna skip Watcha’ Been Playing and get to the segment where the cast start asking Gitelman questions. Shane and John are a bit more reserved; Garnett and Shawn (if I’m not mistaken) are slightly more aggressive. Maybe about forty-five minutes in?
