After a rowdy and crowded podcast last week, the Bombcast is back to basics. Much of the first segment is taken up by talks of Brutal Legend and Borderlands. While there is praise abound for both, the guys seem to agree that Borderlands is the better game, although not without its flaws.
NPD talk takes up much of the news section as a few surprises jump onto the charts this month. Although there seems to be no one shocked that PS3 topped the console charts following the release of the Slim and price drop, the news that The Beatles: Rock Band outsold Guitar Hero 5, even though the latter was offering a free copy of Guitar Hero: Van Halen with each purchase during September. This leads to talk of how Ryan believes the Abbey Road DLC for The Beatles is a bit of a waste as there is not enough content to justify the price.
The email segment features an interesting email asking if the Giant Bomb guys think that the perception of New Super Mario Bros. Wii would be different if it had been titled Super Mario Bros. 4. While Jeff thinks it would be a bit contrived, Ryan seems to think he would have loftier goals.Vinny finds a way to drop in a bit about Wii Motion Plus, which all agree has been dumped into the pile of useless add-ons
