We are a little leaner on topics this week, but we have realized that even if we only had 1 topic, we could easily fill 30 minutes.
Uncharted 2 starts off the game talk this week. The reception of the game has been overwhelmingly positive, aside from Tom Chick’s review over at Crispy Gamer. Erik finished the game and has a lot of great things to say about it, but he feels like Chick’s review has a lot of strong points to add to the discussion.
Jon is halfway through Brutal Legend and shares his praise for the game. Brutal Legend’s general reception has been decidedly less positive than Uncharted 2′s, but it also seems to be successful in a lot of important ways. We take the opportunity to discuss the game’s open world design and whether or not it is warrented. A quick Borderlands discussions closes out the game talk this week.
The tech segment has us discussing cloud storage and how Microsoft/Danger dealt with the Sidekick situation in one of the worst ways imaginable. We skip over movie talk in light of the lack of big releases and end with anticipation for Forza 3.
Covered games and topics: Uncharted 2, Brutal Legend, Borderlands, Danger/Sidekick and cloud storage, Forza 3
Runtime – 32:26

David Ellis joked on twitter that he wanted to call the new show The David Ellis Power Hour Featuring David Ellis. I liked that title, if only because it would have ticked off the Ellis haters. Jeff Cannata suggest “What the Ellis this?”
I hope you guys give Borderlands a chance in the future. Its at a not-to-shabby 85.67% on GameRankings at the moment: http://www.gamerankings.com/xbox360/942810-borderlands/index.html
Its a shame there isn’t a demo to help sell the co-op experience that might otherwise be overlooked by some.
I don’t think there was much podcast coverage of Where the Wild Things Are in the last week but its worth mentioning that it’s Spike Jonze’s (director of Being John Malkovich) new movie and it looks to be really interesting. Apparently it’s pretty polarizing with some critics loving it to death while children are walking out in the middle of the movie.
Yeah, there are a lot of funny potential names flying around.
In hind-sight, I think we were a little dismissive of Borderlands. I am personally interested in the game, but as I said on the cast, it does seem like one to pick up after it has dropped in price a bit. If it were releasing in March or April things would probably be different though.
Where the Wild Things Are is a fairly significant release. It had an uphill battle from the beginning and it sounds like it just didn’t quite deliver the magic that many had hoped, but some of the podcasts should be talking about it this week.
Thanks for listening, and spread the word!
Yup that kills the 1up flagship podcast for me, good thing there’s many podcast to fill the void. As a Ellis “hater” he just isn’t charismatic like Garnett or even Bettenhausen and Luke Smith.
