The Sidekick issue continues to be the big talk of the tech world. The guys point out that Microsoft/Danger have now stated that the lost data has been mostly recovered, but they took their time in acknowledging the problem which only exacerbated the issue. This impacting people’s comfortability about data being kept in the cloud comes up here as well.
Motorola’s play to become relevant in the current marketplace hasn’t not gone over too well. You can check out the Engadget review for all the details, but the general impressions of the CLIQ are not great. The Blackberry Storm 2 has been reviewed by Walt Mossberg and it sounds like it improves a few things, like the click-screen, but it doesn’t really fix any of the inherent problems. It is stressed here that Blackberry users want keyboards, and this makes sense.
Barnes & Noble is on the verge of announcing their foray into the e-book market, and it looks like it will offer some innovation. No one has gotten their hands on the device yet though, so it is all speculation on how well it will work. Dell has a follow-up to their Adamo line, but they are being typically vague on the details. Acer and HP notebooks round out this week’s tech talk.
The next episode of The Engadget Show is happening next Thursday, the 22nd with special guest Steve Ballmer. Subsequently, there will be no podcast next week, but an audio version of The Engadget Show will be released in its place.
