It’s all Windows Phone (Windows Mobile 6.5) talk this week. The guys are on the same page as the gdgt’s Ryan and Peter yesterday. It just isn’t up to par with what smart phones need in this day and age. The conversation becomes more about what manufacturers, main HTC, are doing to customize and improve this latest iteration.
Verizon may have learned from their mistake with the iPhone since they have opened up and have joined in on a partnership with Google. They will be releasing a slew of new Android powered devices and this has have RIM and Microsoft worried. Outside of the iPhone, Android has been the most successful smartphone OS since its release and the state of Windows mobile will probably help them continue this trend.
The guys touch on a few computer related topics before closing out the show including Sony’s new Viao X, the HP Mini 311 and the Dell Adamo XPS. The Engadget show also get a plug as the 2nd episode is happening on October 22nd with special guest Steve Ballmer. Engadget will also be streaming the interview portion so stay tuned for details on that.
With the crazy week of news we’ve had, never has the ever-insightful, industry-encompassing commentary of the Engadget Podcast been so necessary, so vital, so… vigorous. Sure, you could try to make your way through the launch of Windows Mobile 6.5 and an onslaught of Android news all by yourself, but then you’d just be alone and sad. And who would be there to comfort and hold you and tell you how terribly overpriced the VAIO X is and how little Dell revealed about its new Adamo this week? Nobody, that’s who. Don’t be another statistic, slip on some relatively comfortable earbuds and come on over to the Podcast side.
