The Mobcast crew is back on Skype this week after sounding much better last week, but Dan assures us that they have superior podcast equipment en route.
The first topic this week is next generation consoles and the interest, or lack thereof, in those coming sooner rather than later. Almost everyone agrees that the current consoles still seem to have a lot of life left in them and can last at least a few more years. Matt is the only person that voices a contrary opinion siting that he often plays multiplatform games on PC to squeeze the best graphics out of his games and therefor would like to see more powerful systems sometime soon.
Matt topic centers around how they, as press, have to approach playing games differently than the general public and whether that is an asset or a detriment. Coop seems to be the new feature that has to be in almost every game and the guys are talking about how coop being shoe-horned into games is not a good thing. Abundance of yearly game shows and the recent Tokyo Game Show get some discussion before the guys finish up on if it is easier for games to be funny or scary.
Area 5′s Matt Chandronait joins Bitmob’s Dan Hsu, Aaron Thomas, and Michael Donahoe on the latest and greatest episode of the Mobcast.
The gang discuss how ready (or not ready) they are for the next generation of consoles; try to figure out why co-op play frequently stinks; talk about the lack of news from TGS; debate whether or not reviewers have enough time to play games; and ponder if it’s easier to make a funny game or a scary game.
