Get ready for an awesome episode of the Mobcast. Dan Hsu is back and has teamed-up with the Giant Bomb guys to bring us a better sounding and highly enjoyable show.
Tokyo Game Show stories start this one off with the highlights being Aaron Thomas’ snoring that drove Brad to throw him out of their shared hotel room, and Jeff’s ordeal of trying to get a realistic-looking AK47 through airport security. This segues nicely into a discussion about the oversaturation and redundancy of games coverage due to the amount and proximity of game shows like E3, Comic Con, TGS, Liepzig, etc.
Jeff, again, proves that he is more than capable of talking about serious issues while still being highly entertaining here. He very succinctly explains what Giant Bomb is about and their “25% vs. 75%” coverage model feels like it should be an approach more outlets take.
Dan’s topic is a touchy one with him talking about backlash from reviews and coverage over the years. He presses Jeff on the issue, but Jeff can only talk in general terms and can’t directly speak about the circumstances of his departure from GameSpot. 2 lighter topics concerning game-related clothing and most disappointing games round out the episode. Listen to this one.
Dan Hsu returns from his recent trip to the International Space Station to host a very special edition of the Mobcast with fellow Bitmobber, Aaron Thomas. While the presence of that duo alone is enough to make the podcast special, it’s the appearance of GiantBomb.com’s Jeff Gerstmann and Brad Shoemaker that makes this episode truly magical.
The foursome tackle a wide variety of topics including: their favorite Tokyo Game Show moments; whether or not the industry is oversaturated with trade shows; what heavily-hyped games disappointed them the most; review-related headaches; and if it’s cool to wear game-related clothing.
