Activision CEO, Bobby Kotick, has stirred up a storm with his recent comments during a conference call about using “skepticism, pessimism, and fear” to increase the productivity of developers. He also stated that his goal is to “take all the fun out of making video games.” This has obviously not gone over well in the press and the guys share a few thoughts on the situation here.
Details about Modern Warfare 2 have been coming out after the recent Infinity Ward event for the game. The guys make note that although IW touted that they wanted to do something fresh, they really ended up just adding more to what they did in the original Modern Warfare. Batman gets a bit more time with Chris baffled by how Batman is said to not kill when the moves in the game would easily kill any normal human. There is also a short mention of the PC version of Resident Evil 5.
Gameloft has been going crazy with their rip-offs of popular titles for iPhone. Modern Warfare (Modern Combat), Halo (N.O.V.A.) and GTA (Gangstar) are among the games that have been targeted. While it feels a little dirty, the games have been of fairly high quality and the developers of the original franchises don’t seem to be entering the space right now so maybe it’s somewhat okay.
