Even though the guys have been trying to get The Beatles: Rock Band talk banned from the show due to CJ’s inability to stop talking about it, the game commands a large chunk of time at the beginning of this one. This is going to be a hard package to follow-up for both Activision and Harmonix.
It’s the calm before the storm of fall game releases and the POP guys are taking the chance to go back and play some older games. MadWorld gets some discussion before the group moves on to Uncharted. While somewhat flawed, the consensus is that it is still one of the most beautiful games around and with Uncharted 2 just around the corner, it’s a good time to play through the first one. Batman and Guitar Hero 5 are also touched on here.
Phil reviewed Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story for GameSpy and he loved it. He shares some impressions and you can get a few more details in his written 4.5/5 star review. He also gave Muramasa: The Demon Blade a spin, but found that despite its beautiful hand-drawn art, it doesn’t quite deliver in the gameplay department. The announced forthcoming HD 2D Sonic rounds out the cast with speculation on whether it will have 2D, sprite-based art or just be 3D on a 2D plain.
Covered games and topics: The Beatles: Rock Band, Mad World, Uncharted, Batman, GH5, Halo ODST, White Knight Chronicles, Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story, Muramasa, HD 2D Sonic
It’s a three-man podcast this week with CJ, Phil and Greg (Sewart). We talk a little bit about Penny Arcade Expo (and the flu/sickness that struck many of its attendees), The Beatles Rock Band, Batman Arkham Asylum, Uncharted, Mr. Driller W, Muramasa, Guitar Hero 5, Contra ReBirth, Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story, Sonic the Hedgehog Project Needlemouse and much, much more. Like we filled up nearly two hours there.
