Mobcast

For those of you that were gaming 10 years ago this will be a cool episode of the Mobcast.  9/9/99 was touted by EGM as the biggest entertainment launch of all time with the release of the Dreamcast.

The guys have brought former Sega PR and Dreamcast launch team member, Heather Hawkins, on this week to talk about the Dreamcast and reminisce about what the games industry was like 10 years ago.  There were a lot of things that went wrong for Sega’s last system, but it still remains a fond memory for many.

Some of the games that get mentioned here include: Samba de Amigo, Skies of Arcadia, Phantasy Star Online, Seaman, Shenmue, NFL 2K1.  The Dreamcast, despite its problems, really set the path for where the games industry is today in many ways.

During this all-Dreamcast episode, Bitmobbers Dan Hsu, Michael Donahoe, and Aaron Thomas are joined by former Sega marketing guru Heather Hawkins to remember the Dreamcast on its 10th anniversary. The gang relive the system’s 9/9/99 launch, ponder the strategy of releasing maracas, VMU’s, and fishing controllers, discuss their top Dreamcast games, and talk about their favorite Sega system.
