It’s just Jeff, N’Gai and Shawn this week and it is a tight group. The guys touch on PAX stuff before moving onto TV shows that they love and try to get others to give a chance. The Wire is a universal mention and N’Gai talks about Oz and Deadwood with Jeff pushing Buffy The Vampire Slayer. If you haven’t watched Deadwood, you really are depriving yourself. N’Gai then tries to add 24 to the discussion as another good one, but Shawn is not buying it at all.
The conversation then turns to World of Warcraft and MMOs. The guys make some good points about the evolution of the game and what any forthcoming MMO needs to do to be any kind of success in the space. Shawn points out that something will dethrone WoW, but it will probably be something that is quite different from what we know of as a MMO today.
Batman spurs an interesting discussion about “accessibility vs. expressivity,” as the guys term it. Shawn argues that people generally feel compelled by being put in a situation where they can be creative and N’Gai argues that these two things aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive. This leads into a discussion about Bayonetta and its super easy auto mode.
PAX details finish out the cast. 8:30 pm, Saturday, September 5th, be there.
