Another week in the Team Fremont attic with the sultans of the sauce, John, Moe, and Hilden starts off as always with some entertaining drunk dials from all parts of the world. Moving from there into the mailbag, among the several hilarious letters was a question about so-called fan sequels. Companies like Square-Enix have been squashing these projects and the listener wonders why they are doing this instead of possibly buying it. The DGR crew agrees with this notion, but brings up the point that these large companies may be too proud to accept these games and also do not want to open the flood gates of copyright infringement.
Like many podcasts over the last week, talk then turns to Shadow Complex for one of their reviews for this week. All agree that the word “Metroidvania” should forever be dismissed, but liken many of the game’s features closest to Super Metroid. They also review the newly released Wolfenstein on both Xbox 360 and PS3 and can’t come up with any significant differences between the two. Their random retro review of the week is Warlords for the Atari 2600 and Moe really thinks it is a great game and worth it to pick up if you can find it.
This week’s feature presentation, piggy-backing on the Wolfenstein review, is all about Nazis and how they are most probably the perfect video game enemy. The group shares their various opinions and ask the audience to submit letters with their thoughts on if Nazis are overdone in gaming and if there is any enemy that may surpass them.
