Three Red Lights Podcast, Episode 122

by KirePDX in GamesAugust 14th, 2009 @ 12:08 am

Three Red LightsThree Red Lights is a day late, but according to Hilary Goldstein, it’s a day better.  That doesn’t mean they cover many games this week, they do talk about Brave: A Warrior’s Tale and Shadow Complex; but the show ends with a 12 minute interview with Cobra Commander, who hasn’t been heard since episode 42.

The guys are disappointed with the pricing of both the avatar marketplace and the Xbox Games on Demand, thinking Microsoft is charging too much to see what people are willing to pay.  While digital distribution seems like developer’s solution to the used game market, if digital games are more expensive than retail units, there isn’t enough incentive for consumers to buy digitally yet.

Assassin’s Creed 2 comes up, and Hilary reminds people that the video shown at E3 was just a demo level so wasn’t actually part of the game, and he’s looking forward to gondola chases through Venice. He and Erik have also been playing through Shadow Complex multiple times and discovered a sequence-break to finish it in 30 minutes, so they hope to stay on the leaderboards when it released on XBLA next week.

The Cobra Commander interview isn’t quite as good as the original, (Hilary’s impersonation is better than this one); but TRL listeners should appreciate the G.I. Joe attention as they continue to ridicule the movie.

Covered games and topics: Gamescon, Peter Molyneux, Natal, Trials HD, ‘Splosion Man, Shadow Complex, Avatar Marketplace, Games on Demand, Brave: A Warrior’s Tale, family games, Assassin’s Creed 2, Bioshock, Borderlands, G.I. Joe movie, Grin closing,

As IGN’s premier Xbox 360 podcast, Three Red Lights brings you the latest videogame-related news and views from around the world. Either that, or we talk about nothing until Garageband crashes. We can never remember which.

This week, Cobra Commader calls in to the podcast to talk with Colin Moriarty and Hilary Goldstein about the economy. But before that, Erik Brudvig and Charles Onyett chat with Hilary about all sorts of crap. Games on Demand, things that are dumb, Borderlands and Shadow Complex are all on tap for this podcast that has no agenda, but manages to stay on topic.
