G.I. Joe starts this one out with a luke-warm reception. This leads into a discussion on ’80s cartoons and Mike flexes some serious ’80s nerd knowledge by recalling TigerSharks and SilverHawks.
The topic of internet advertisements come up with Ryan mentioning the Evony ads that have been appearing on geekbox.net. You may have seen them on CastMedium as well and they are egregiously sexualized for no apparent reason. PopCap recently did a parody of these ads that features a “sexy” zombie lady.
After Karen gives Civilization Revolution on iPhone some middling remarks the group moves onto talk about games going digital download. This spurs a huge, meandering discussion about the future, sitting in white rooms with internet brain-connections, death of traditional media and getting old.
On a side note, for those that are interested, the old GFW radio crew will be doing a “Brodeo” reunion from 8:30 – 9:30pm on Saturday, September 5th at PAX. See the PAX schedule for more details.
Wherein we discuss Karen’s weekly porno comic fix, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, bad ’80s cartoons, Burn Notice episode 3×09, awesomely misleading Internet ads, Civilization Revolution for the iPhone, the latest World of Warcraft expansion buzz, Xbox 360 games on demand, shady iPhone apps, web comics, and the death of old media (and boy, what a tangent this one is…). Starring Ryan Scott, Karen Chu, Mike Cruz, Andrew Fitch, and Ryan Higgins.
Runtime – 1:35:09
