Another week of 4 topic with 4 guys and there are some good ones here, but unfortunately, it sounds like they recorded it in a cave somewhere. If you can get through the sound quality there is some good conversation though.
After quickly touching upon least favorite genres, the conversation moves onto the rumors of an Apple tablet that is centered around gaming. While the conclusion is that this is unlikely, there is no doubt that gaming will be an important part of the potential device. It is hard not to be excited by the prospect of a really new sort of gaming platform like this.
The other topic that takes up the biggest chunk of time is “casual” games and the blurring of the line between casual and hardcore games. Is there no middle ground here? Why is there no moniker for middle-ground games, and what would even fall into that category?
On this week’s Mobcast Dan Hsu, Demian Linn, Jason Wilson, and Matt Chandronait solicit the community for a podcast intro, discuss the genres they don’t play, Apple’s future in the console market, whether or not “casual” is a dirty word, how developers could better prepare for the launch of their online games, and ponder how they’d make an adventure game with interesting controls.
