The guys start out with their typical recap of what they have been playing and Monkey Island continues to entertain. Justin is playing through Fallout 3 with the release of the Mothership Zeta DLC. Bethesda has really hit a homerun with the constant stream of DLC which is successfully keeping people interested and the game in the news. Chris is digging into the back catalog with Mirror’s Edge and Ludwig continues his love for Tales of Vesperia. Also, there are some surprisingly positive comments on the XBLA Turtles in Time remake.
Sony is releasing a new lilac colored version of the PSP in an attempt to appeal to girls. This approach in marketing isn’t winning over the Joystiq guys and they bring on Elizabeth Wachowski, from sister site WoW Insider, to weigh in on the situation.
In the voicemails and emails section the guys tackle the question of whether they prefer Japanese RPGs or Western RPGs. Chris and Ludwig grew up playing JRPGs, but over the years have found that the incessant rehashing of storytelling devices and gameplay mechanics have pushed them towards Western RPGs. Justin makes the point that well executed JRPGs can surpass their Western counterparts and this has everyone agreeing.
Covered games and topics: XBLA new releases hard to find, G.I. Joe, Tales of Monkey Island, Fallout 3, Batman, ‘Splosion Man, Mirror’s Edge, Turtle in Time XBLA, Tales of Vesperia, ads in Wipeout HD, Lilac PSP talk with Elizabeth Wachowski, voicemails, WRPGs vs. JRPGs, emails

Capcom 2 and the greatest email in the history of emails, so you won’t want to miss that. Also, now that girls play games, we have one of those too.
So, what are you waiting for? Go feed your ear holes. Oh, and thanks to Alan Black for the totally illegal photochopping.

So, I gave this week’s podcast a try just so I can have a current opinion on it. Overall, they talked about some interesting issues, but in the end I just don’t think their sense of humor aligns with mine very well and as a result it just felt extremely long. If they cut the podcast in half, I might be willing to make it a mainstay.
