Chris and Jimmy take a look at Orphan, the recently released horror thriller that tells the story of a family who adopts a 9-year old girl who isn’t what she seems. As per usual, Jimmy bases part of his review on the marketing, which leads to the pair’s dissection of the striking, creepy movie poster. The guys praise Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard for bringing good acting to a neglected genre. They point out the fairly mixed reviews, but Chris attributes that to the juxtaposition between the neophyte director Jaume Collet-Serra and the seasoned screenwriter David Johnson.
Jimmy takes a lighthearted approach to his favorite “creepy kid movie”, choosing Chris Columbus’s Home Alone. Chris swings the pendulum in the opposite direction, bringing Mary Lambert’s Pet Sematary to the table. After rolling through listeners’ choices, the crew caps off the conversation with Chris announcing his absence from the podcast for the next three weeks.
This week, Chris and Jimmy decide to adopt the evil demon seed that is Orphan. Herrrrre’s Esther!
