The rumored Apple tablet continues to dominate discussion in the tech world. Ryan feels like it will be atypical of Apple if it does actually get announced any time soon. This is true, but with so many credible sources it seems almost guaranteed by next spring. The rumors of Verizon fast-tracking their LTE service in preparation for such a device is particularly interesting.
Sprint has been losing a lot of customers recently. This is particularly troubling since this points out the fact that the Palm Pre has not been their iPhone. This is bad news for Palm as well. They did by Virgin Mobile America, but this seems like a stop-gap move more than anything else.
The guys are throwing an open-to-the-public gdgt launch party on August 4th. This should be a cool event with the Zune HD on hand for people to check out.
With this week’s latest report, Apple’s mythic tablet seems a step closer to reality, even despite some related and tantalizing (but still hard to believe) rumors that Verizon is pushing up its LTE launch for just such a device. Creative also announced its oblique new Zii EGG handheld for developers and OEMs, while Sprint was down on customers and cash, but still snagged Virgin Mobile for a few hundred mil.
