It’s Halo-mania. By there end of the year there will have been no less than 4 Halo related releases including 2 games, the animated Halo Legends series and Xbox Live hub Halo Waypoint. The series has great fiction and a huge fanbase, but this seems like an Activision technique.
Plants vs. Zombies is coming to XBLA and Alexander brings his typical negativity on the release. PopCap makes great games and releasing them on as many platforms as possible is a good thing. Richard does express a valid concern about how the controls will port over to a controller with the game’s clicking-heavy design though.
The big topic this week is the new Xbox dashboard update that is coming on August 11th. There seem to be a lot of great improvements, but the guys do have some misgivings about the avatar marketplace. Some of the items that will be available are fairly expensive and buying these could encourage Microsoft to take this even further, which would probably be a bad thing.
Covered games and topics: Red Faction, new Gears of War 2 DLC, Splosion Man, Halo Legends, Halo Waypoint, Plants vs. Zombies, MS financial results, emails, dashboard update, avatar marketplace
