Following last week’s episode, Mobcast has listened to audience feedback and switched its format to four guys/four topics to provide a little more depth for each subject. Gamespot alum and Bitmob contributor, Aaron Thomas, rounds out the core group and they cover annual sports games, favorite ‘forgotten’ arcade games, renting vs. buying, and whether the PSP is a success or failure.
Annualized sports games generally feature small evolutions every year, but carry huge sales expectations every time. Greg Ford and Aaron Thomas have some ideas on rewarding players by carrying over stats year over year, or staggering annual releases with cheaper downloadable updates. With Madden and other sports games still being sales juggernauts, is there any incentive for developers to change their models or are fans stuck with buying $60 games every year?
While it’s not clear if Greg will stay on the podcast while he’s getting his MBA, Mobcast continues to balance interesting topics with recent news and draw insight from an experienced group of gaming veterans. The new limited format also helps keep the show focused for a entertaining hour.
The fab four of Dan “Shoe” Hsu, Demian Linn, Greg Ford, and Aaron Thomas take a ride on the Mobcast train this week. They hit such topics as how to make annual sports games more exciting, favorite forgotten arcade games, the PSP’s legacy, and more.
