The HotSpot 06/02/2009

by Jonathan Downin in Games969 days ago

There are a ton of announcements and games touched upon here, but nothing gets too much time.  That is not to say the guys are skimp on the information, they just seem to do very well about being concise.  There is a full list of games and topics below which we will be including in each post from here on out. Near the end the group discusses who they think had the best briefing and the consensus is Microsoft by a small margin.  Sony also get some high praise for all the great games and motion controller stuff they showed. Covered topics and games:...

New poll and old poll results

by Jonathan Downin in Site969 days ago

Leading up to the big 3 media briefings we ran a poll asking whose announcements you were most excited about and the results were split evenly between Microsoft and Sony. Now that the conferences are over, let us know who you think came out on top in the new poll.

The Totally Rad Show | Episode 115 – Wonky

by Jonathan Downin in Games, Movies969 days ago

With the craziness of E3 going on it can be pretty easy to miss out on the regular releases, but the TRS guys are here this week with their usual show.  Look for E3 stuff from the guys either live on Rev3 or on next week’s show. Drag Me to Hell looks like it is a fun horror movie in much of the same vein as Rami’s Evil Dead series.  It really is one of those “love it or hate it” type of movie though so know what you are getting into. Infamous is the game this week and the reactions are somewhat mixed, but definitely on...

CO-OP | Episode 113 – CO-OP @ E3 2009: Microsoft

by Jonathan Downin in Games969 days ago

The CO-OP guys are here with there first E3 special covering the Microsoft press conference.  If you didn’t get a chance to catch it yourself, all of the big announcements and games are covered here. It has been iterated more than a few times at this point, but when not 1, but 2 Halo games are shown and neither of them are the highlight of the show you know it was a success.  The crew share their opinions of Modern Warfare 2, Shadow Complex, Left 4 Dead 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Forza Motorsport 3, Halo: ODST, Final Fantasy XIII and...

Giant Bombcast E3 2009 Day Zero

by Jonathan Downin in Games970 days ago

No one else has spent too much time talking about it, but Crackdown 2 was quickly announced at Microsoft’s conference.  This is great news to many that found this gem when trying to get an early taste of Halo 3 back in 2007.  Another announcement that came out of left field was that for Left 4 Dead 2.  It seems weird for a company like Valve who regularly updates their games with new content to go this route, but it’s more Left 4 Dead, so who can complain?  Also, Metal Gear! On the Project Natal front, Ryan is fairly apprehensive...

The HotSpot 06/01/2009

by Jonathan Downin in Games970 days ago

As with the 1UP guys, the crew here is pretty positive on Microsoft and the announcements they had at their press conference earlier today.  It sounds like although everyone is very positive on Project Natal, the Milo presentation from Lionhead is creeping a few people out.  It is understandable, but it seems more a promise of potential than people are realizing. The EA and Ubisoft announcements get some time, but there is not too much in-depth discussion going on.  Tune in to hear another take on today’s announcements. Tor Thorsen, Tom...

Listen UP: 06/01/2009

by Jonathan Downin in Games970 days ago

The 1UP crew is here with their first impressions from E3 including opinions on the Microsoft, EA and Ubisoft press conferences. Everyone was fairly pleased with the Microsoft conference.  Splinter Cell and Alan Wake were the biggest winners with the guys with surprisingly little real excitement at the Project Natal stuff.  If it works, Project Natal looks to possibly revolutionize the way we interface with our TVs and consoles.  Molyneux really blew it out with Milo.  In addition to all that, the 360 is getting Facebook, Twitter, 1080p movies...

Joystiq Podcast E309 – Do It Live edition

by Jonathan Downin in Games970 days ago

Since the ‘stiq crew didn’t get a chance to put out their regular podcast last Friday, they managed to put a quick one together just after arriving in LA yesterday.  It is a lean one at a mere 21 minutes. The guys are throwing out some quick predictions and the consensus seems to be that Microsoft will be going largely casual this year with their press conference announcements.  This is contrary to a lot of what we have heard from other outlets, but we will know in just a few short hours. Well, we all made it safely to E3, and in the...
