TWiT 197: Steal This Diploma

TWiTWe get a great group on TWiT this week with only 1 familiar voice in Gina Trapani.  The first issue up the week is the direction journalism is taking and how online media is transforming what the business of news actually is at this point.  The discussion is largely based around the idea of the real-time web and how that allows users to triangulate their own new and sources for that news.

Next up is some talk about the dichotomy between Microsoft’s new search called Bing and the new Google Wave.  The group makes a good point that these two services really sum up the difference in the way that these two companies approach their products.  If you haven’t checked out Wave, Google calls it “email if it was invented today” and you should head over and watch the 1 hour and 20 minute long demo they released last week.

The last segment is spent talking about the institution of secondary education and how the traditional methods and models are not working in these modern times.

Newspaper collusion, real-time Web, Bing, Google Wave, transforming education, and more.
