Giant Bombcast 05-26-2009

by Jonathan Downin in GamesMay 26th, 2009 @ 10:35 pm

Giant BombcastWith the announcements of the 2 new Fallout 3 DLC packs the guys are talking about how successful Bethesda has been with their DLC strategy.  Instead of putting out 1 huge $30 expansion as in the past, having a new DLC pack every 6 weeks is a nice alternative to keep the game fresh.  The guys even manage to get a Valve “episodic” dig in there.

Jeff is angry about the recent tactics by companies like Infinity Ward and Konami when it comes to the teasing of reveals, and understandably so.  Infinity Ward’s egregious teasing of teasers and Konami’s countdowns leading to further countdowns are pretty ridiculous.  The trailer IS the advertisement.  They don’t need to string out the people who are already interested.

Near the end the guys get into a few E3 predictions, but they cut it a bit short and Brad suggests that they do a special pre-E3 predictions podcast on Friday.  We’ll see if that happens.  As seems to be the case with the other big outlets, look for a crazy amount of coverage and podcasts coming out of the Giant Bomb guys during E3.

We hint at Giant Bomb’s plans for the big show and discuss the diminishing returns of teasing a teaser, how to punish rage-quitters, ICP’s wrestling league, Bionic Commando truth and reconciliation, our appetite for Fallout 3 DLC, and much more!
