Command Prompt Podcast, Episode 46

by Jonathan Downin in GamesMay 12th, 2009 @ 9:01 pm

Command PromptJust like everyone else the Command Prompt guys are not taking the 3D Realms and Duke Nukem 3D news lightly.  Jason has more than a few things to say on the subject.

Thief 4 also comes up and while the sentiment is generally positive there is also an understandable bit of skepticism.  Those of us that played the original can surely agree with Jeff when he says it has taken far too long.

A big chunk of time is spent talking about the news that a game based on A Song of Ice and Fire is being developed.  It sounds like it is one of those series where they are going to have a lot to live up to in the fan’s minds.

Sorry about missing last week; Jason was down in Los Angeles for some pre-E3 activities. As a result, Steve and Jeff ran rampant without any adult supervision. Seriously, as soon as the authority figure is gone it’s all throwing furniture off the rooftops around here.

There is some huge news to discuss this week, though. None bigger than Duke Nukem Forever essentially being canned and 3D Realms shutting down. Yes, the game that has spent the equivalent of three presidential terms in development is no longer around for us to kick it, though we give it the old college try. And for fans of A Song of Ice and Fire (and Jason is like the biggest one in the office), there’s the news that a development studio has signed the rights to the series. Now they better not suck.
