Phantasy Star Portable doesn’t fare too well as the first game this week. There is no internet play so you must be playing with people in the vicinity, but there don’t seem to be too many incentives to make the effort. According to the guys the story is horrible and there are quite a few problems with some mechanics and gameplay design choices. You will probably want to give this one a pass.
Fat Princess looks to be a game that may be able to bridge the gap between hardcore and mainstream with its accessible but deep gameplay and beautiful art style. It is basically a class based capture the flag game, but it really transends the genre by being a unique approach and being downloadable. We don’t know the price yet, but if this game is $20 or less it could be huge.
Red Faction: Guerilla is looking to be somewhat of a sleeper. The game’s graphics look pretty good until you realize you can destroy almost everything and the game gets elevated to a whole other level by this fact. The demo is currently available on XBL and PSN so go give it a try.
