Good Grief: 05/04/2009

by Jonathan Downin in GamesMay 4th, 2009 @ 8:58 pm

Good GriefAs usual this week’s episode starts with a culling of the boards.  There are 2 great questions this week pertaining to games being stigmatized and justifying them to people around you along with underrated games in franchises.  Some games discussed in this context are Mario Sunshine, Metal Gear Solid 2, Silent Hill 4 and many others.  What games in a series do you think are underrated?

As usual indie games come up and Sharkey mentions the Cactus Arcade collection.  It is a collection of some of the best games to come out of the indie game genius Cactus.  As Sharkey mentions, it is a good way to get your feet wet in the indie gaming scene.

The crew has been playing Fat Princess and have some stories and impressions to share about it.  Within the discussion Chris brings up a question in regards to there being any real breakout hits in the PSN or XBLA scene that have reached mainstream.  It doesn’t seem that there really are outside of Geometry Wars.

Edit: Fixed some egregious typos.

We’re back! Good Grief returns after an unexpected interruption in our schedule. We discuss more 1UP community happenings from defending our gaming habits to discovering the underrated games in popular franchises. Sharkey turns the Recession Gaming spotlight on Scary Girl and Tina shares her Play Time experience with Fat Princess.
