Engadget Podcast 144 – 05.01.2009

by Jonathan Downin in TechMay 1st, 2009 @ 4:49 pm

Engadget PodcastThe rumors of a small form factor Palm Eos are interesting, but hard to imagine.  With people clammoring for the Pre, why is Palm spending their time on a second, cheaper device?  They need to get the Pre out as soon as possible and definitely before Apple’s next iPhone iteration.

Verizon has a lot of the tech community in their pockets for some reason.  It is probably due to the better data services they offer.  Regardless, the iPhone on Verizon rumor just won’t go away and it’s hard not to think that it is fueled somewhat by wishful thinking.  The Apple tablet rumor won’t die either.  The guys say there will definitely be a software or hardware announcement at WWDC.  They are taking a risk with that prediction.

The Windows 7 Release Candidate is out for some and Joshua has had a pretty positive experience.  He talks about the “very polished UI” and more importantly the crazy wallpapers that are included.  The wallpapers included are Zune-like and very out-there.  Joshua says it is a bolder move than anything Apple has done recently– he may be right.

Bogged down and confused with the latest spate of wild mobile speculations? Relationship troubles clouding your judgment? Lonely? Well Josh, Nilay and Paul — your jovial (yet often enraged) Engadget Podcast crew — are back for another installment to help you sort all that out. In a week heavy on rumors (Palm Eos, Microsoft “Pink” and the not-so-nano “iPhone lite”) and laden with opinion (Windows 7 RC1, TiVo’s sad state of affairs), join the boys as they delve deep into abyss that is gadgetry. Sure, there might never be a Zunephone, but remember: the beauty is in the journey… or something.
