One of the first things up this week is the news that Windows 7 will come with an XP compatibility mode. It is still a little unclear whether this is 100% true virtualization, but it is good news for gamers if Windows 7 ends up not running quite as fast as with Vista.
The iPhone exclusivity and Apple tablet rumors are discussed here and Ryan makes some really great points. The most spot on observation is that Apple rarely, if ever, enters new markets. They tend to kind of sit back while markets establish themselves and then come in with a category defining product. Nothing illustrates this better than the iPhone.
The guys take the last part of the show to again air their grievances about Time Warner Cable and as almost all of us can agree, it’s always cathartic. Internet Service Providers are constantly a big a issue and in the midst of bandwidth cap and tiered pricing issues Cablevision has announced a new service that will offer 101Mbps service for $99 a month. Hopefully offerings like this will force some of the bigger guys, like TWC and Comcast, to provide better plans and services.
We’re more than a little excited that Samsung announced the first major Android cellphone release outside HTC, but a slew of Microsoft and Apple (with Verizon) rumors certainly made us sit up and take notice. We’re also talking Bluetooth headsets (such as Aliph’s new Jawbone Prime and Plantronics’s Voyager Pro), as well as a bit of DOCSIS 3.0 cable internet rollout.
