We wanted to do a quick update on the site as things have evolved a bit over the past few weeks and we realize not everyone might be privy to all the details.

Firstly, we have introduced a new rating system for each post. It is a digg style system in that you can vote up your favorite podcasts/posts, but you also have the choice to vote something down as well. The highest rated selections will be shown in the sidebar to the right, just under the Latest posts section. It is a pretty straightforward system and as of now, only the lastest 100 posts are considered in the rankings, which is about a month’s worth of posts. So if you like something just hit the “I like it!” button in the lower right of any given post, or if you don’t like something, hit the “I don’t!” button. We hope this will help people find the most popular episodes in recent weeks.

Second, we have the poll. We now have a poll at the top right. It will be updated weekly on Saturdays. The current poll has been up for more than a week now, but after this Saturday we will be updating it weekly. Go ahead and vote, it won’t hurt.
Third, we have a new weekly feature called Podcaster’s Favorite Podcasts. Every Thursday we will get podcasters, from a given podcast covered on the site, to list their top 3 favorite podcasts and why they like them. Hopefully this will help us all broaden our horizons a little and introduce us to many of the great podcasts that are out there.
Since we want CastMedium to evolve and provide coverage of what our readers care about, we are going to introduce a new way for you to influence what you see on the site. At the end of each month we will gather the picks from the Podcaster’s Favorite Podcasts piece, put them in the first poll of the month, and the one with the most votes will be added as a regularly covered podcast on the site. This way we know we are adding something of quality and that it is something people would like covered.
