This one starts out with the BioWare doctors and they have a few things to say about the evolution of western RPG design. They don’t say anything about Mass Effect 2, but they do talk a bit about Dragon Age.
David Jaffe commands the second segment and never runs out of things to say. He is always opinionated and that is no different here, but he has real views on things. There are many issues he takes with games journalism and even admits he just looks at review scores. He goes on to suggest that 1UP move to a 1 paragraph review system and charge for their podcasts. Love him or hate him, he is a straight shooter and you have to respect that.
Insomniac community guys are rounding out the 3rd group and Garnett gives them a pretty hard time about Resistance 2 and how to make games enjoyable regardless of commitment level. They are talking Resistance and a bit about the forthcoming Rachet & Clank sequel.
Listen UP’s Game Developers Conference 2009 Specials continue with Bioware’s Dr. Ray Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk joining John and Garnett to talk about Dragon Age, Mass Effect 2, and their experiences building rpgs. After that David Jaffe comes on to talk about the gaming press and the balance they hope to hit on his next game project. And then James Stevenson and Ryan Schneider from Insomniac Games shed a little light on the newly announced Ratchet & Clank game and get into the evolution of community design in shooters.
