Rebel FM – Episode 11 – 03/18/09

by Jonathan Downin in GamesMarch 19th, 2009 @ 5:09 am

Rebel FMLike everyone else in games journalism the Rebel FM guys have played through Resident Evil 5 and have quite a bit to say about it.  Co-op play styles have provided some insight into Arthur and Anthony’s personalities.  They are also spot on when they say the story takes some cues from Metal Gear Solid and is completely ridiculous.

Arthur is on the same page as Jeff from the Giant Bombcast on MadWorld.  It seems to be one of those things that once you hear the problems you can’t help but notice them when you do play it.

In the second segment the guys are talking about racial issues, not racism, and of course this is centered around Resident Evil 5.  Ultimately, no matter what you think about RE5, you have to realize that the game is to some extent racially insensitive.  Whether Capcom was trying to make a a statement about race, they have put themselves into the a territory where something is being said, intentional or not.

Anthony has an interesting view on why the Triforce is one of the most exciting rewards to an epic journey.

Join us for the magic this episode as we’re joined by the unfortunately curious Patrick Klepek and special guest and podcasting Svengali Andrew Pfister as we talk about the games we’ve been playing (there’s a lot of talk about Resident Evil 5), issues of race in games (there’s a lot of talk about Resident Evil 5), and close out with letters (which are blessedly free of Resident Evil 5).

Runtime – 1:49:00
