Former 1UPer Philip Kollar from Rebel FM is on and he is answering a few questions from the 1UP boards. The questions range from what exactly he would like to be doing within the industry to childhood digressions.
There is a good discussion about the merits of Sonic actually being able to be done well in 3D and how the old-school 2D versions weren’t able to be as memorable as other classic games simply because of the speed of the gameplay. This leads into a discussion of the revival of 2D games and what freedoms DLC and downloadable games allow developers that they wouldn’t have otherwise.
A huge zombie discussion rounds out the comparatively long episode.
Hop on the short bus! This week we pack it full with six people on the show. Sam vents his frustrations about the Sonic franchise, we share our Street Figther 4 stories from playtime, and we listen to Sharkey praise more Recession Gaming friendly games. Special guest Philip Kollar sits in along with Chris Plante in San Francisco, and Russ Frustick from UGO “in the well.”
