In this second episode of Robert Ashley’s topical and introspective take on covering games we get a view into collectors and “curators.” This episode is as enlightening and well produced as the first. The care with which the topic here is handled and the maturity level is unparalleled without pulling any punches.
It’s really amazing how even within such a seemingly narrow subject matter such as “collectors,” there can be such a chasm between the derivations between the people involved.
There is a great discussion in the third segment which examines the preservation of digital entities and worlds. It’s a topic that many of us have probably never thought twice about.
Robert Ashley explores the world of collectors and archivists, visiting a massive underground collection of videogames, a vintage pinball museum, and a program at Stanford University that hopes to save the history of online gaming.
