Three Red Lights, Episode 104

by Jonathan Downin in Games1087 days ago

Spacebook?  Facespace?  yeah– The guys are talking G.I. Joe again this episode.  These guys really love G.I. Joe.  The new trailer looks pretty bad.  Why do all our 80s childhood past times have to be ran through the mud? This week, join Ryan Geddes, Hilary Goldstein and Colin Moriarty on a magical romp through space. That’s right, space. Look it up on Spacebook (or Facespace if you’re Hilary). So here’s a question. How bad was the trailer for the G.I. Joe movie? Are there words to describe it? Yes, but we can’t...

Diggnation | Episode 188 – Cake Maker 2000

by Jonathan Downin in Tech1087 days ago

I’m not sure that Diggnation should really be considered a technology show.  It started out that way, and the stories are chosen from a social news website which is intrinsically technology, but the topics really aren’t.  Just guys talkin’ guy stuff, guynology? I’m waiting for next week when Alex gets Windows 7 on his machine.  He is a Windows guy so I am sure he will like it, but it will be interesting to hear what him and Kevin have to say about it. USA’s Worst Food: Baskin Robbins Oreo Shake, AskMen’s Top...

MacBreak Weekly 126: La-la-la-Leo

by Jonathan Downin in Tech1087 days ago

At the launch of the iPhone many people were up in arms about the lack of flash.  I’m not sure too many people really care anymore.  What do we really need it for at this point? The possible introduction of background processes being allowed on the iPhone is very interesting.  That would be a welcome change as long as it doesn’t affect the overall stability of the iPhone itself.  After seeing the implementation of multiple running processes on the Palm Pre, it’s something I think is really viable and needed. iPhone Flash speculation,...

Giant Bombcast 02-03-2009

by Jonathan Downin in Games1088 days ago

Jeff goes pretty in-depth about Killzone 2 up-front in this episode.  Although this is not a review of the game, it is a rather thorough hands-on.  Why is that game not coming out until the end of the month?  That doesn’t make any sense with some reviews already out and so much coverage around the net in recent days. The news about the change in strategy for the Need for Speed series is interesting.  It’s obvious that the series needs some retooling, but I’m not sure this is what people want. The Bombcast avoids Olympic controversy...

The Geekbox: Episode 3

by Jonathan Downin in Games1088 days ago

The Geekbox crew just doesn’t seem to be able to get enough of the TV show Burn Notice.  Does anyone watch this show?  Or better yet, has anyone started watching this show since listening to The Geekbox? I like that the guys (and gal) here talk TV as well as games and several other things.  It makes sense as The Geekbox isn’t positioning itself as a video game show, but a geek topics show.  What do you think about video game shows touching on TV or movies?  Do you want to hear it or do you prefer that they stick to games only? Wherein...

Command Prompt Podcast, Episode 34

by Jonathan Downin in Games1088 days ago

The PC guys are finally getting their chance to jump into Burnout Paradise.  It sounds like it is running pretty well and the PC crowd is getting access to all the console DLC from the outset. More talk of the closing of Ensemble Studios on this one.  In closing, some info about their unreleased products has come out and a Halo MMO was something that was in the cards at some point.  The world of Halo seems like it could lend itself really well to an MMO.  Would it be a more traditional MMORPG or would it be a first-person shooter take on the...

The HotSpot 02/03/2009

by Jonathan Downin in Games1088 days ago

The issue of racism is touched upon again in the wake of the relase of the Resident Evil 5 demo.  There are a lot of things that could be said on the topic, but the GameSpot crew covers it pretty well, so I will leave it to them. I, personally, could do with more Brian Ekberg.  He always has something insightful to say and has a really wry underplayed sense of humor.  Make him a regular on The Hotspot please. Still buzzing from the weekend’s Puppy Bowl V, Brian Ekberg, Sophia Tong, Kevin VanOrd, Tom Mc Shea, and Brendan Sinclair try to...

The Totally Rad Show | Episode 98 – Jilted

by Jonathan Downin in Games1088 days ago

The guys are talking about Taken this week in the movies section.  Liam Neeson is such a bad-ass in this one.  If you are a guy and watch this movie, you will wish you were him at 45. This is the episode where the guy’s make their Oscar predictions.  This is a staple for The Totally Rad Show and is a fun tradition to watch.  Alex has been pretty successful in these wagers, but we’ll have to see about this year’s. We get some coverage on a smaller PC game in the games section this week.  I really like that the TRS guys take...

Nintendo Voice Chat Podcast, Episode 35

by Jonathan Downin in Games1089 days ago

Although the scores are not up yet, in this episode the IGN Nintendo crew are talking bout games that are being reviewed this week.  Nothing sounds like it going to get above an 8.0, but not much does on Wii these days. Is there any way Nintendo could get the core gamer back at this point?  Maybe the better question: is there any reason Nintendo would want to get the core gamer back at this point? I’m completely open to Nintendo morphing themselves and not having to be what they were in the past.  If Nintendo wants to move out of the core...

Xbox 360 Fancast 102 — The Lost Episode

by Jonathan Downin in Games1089 days ago

It has taken them a while, but it seems like the Joystiq Xbox guys have finally fixed most of the issues with their podcast feed.  The transition wasn’t exactly smooth, but the problem are being taken care of. As the release of Halo Wars approaches Ensemble Studios is no more.  We will see how well the game does, but one things is for sure, Ensemble Studios will be missed. X3F (that’s the Xbox 360 Fancast) is back once again with a brand new episode. Before we get into the festivities, an announcement: The iTunes feed is up and running...

TWiT 180: How Is Babby Formed

by Jonathan Downin in Tech1090 days ago

This Google malware site tagging issue was pretty major.  It was labeling every site on the net as dangerous to navigate to.  It really is amazing how such a big player like Google could make such an egregious error. Pete Cashmore from Mashable.com is on this week’s show, as is Jason Calacanis.  The guy’s spend a big part of the show talking about Forbe’s top 25 Web celebrities and they are all on the list.  For those of you out there interested in trying an internet venture, there is a lot of insight to be gained from this...

Show #307 : F.E.A.R.2: Project Origin and MLB Front Office Manager

by Jonathan Downin in Games1090 days ago

We get some F.E.A.R. 2 talk on this weeks edition of the “blogcast.”  The first one was really great at the time and both Condemneds so this should be good.  I have heard good things about it, but it’s not really known in the console world so I’m afraid this one won’t seel too well. MLB Front Office Manager?  What?  Is there really a market for this game?  I know people love themselves some fantasy sports, but can’t they just build this into an MLB game?  If not, make it a downloadable game at $20 or something. ...
